Bernardo Yorba Middle School Instrumental Music Weekly Newsletter

The most successful students have involved parents.

Home stretch! We are starting to wind down the school year. Please take this time to start looking for school owned instruments to bring back to school. If you will be returning to BYMS Instrumental Music in the fall, you may check out your instrument over the summer, but it must be inspected by Mrs. Neumayr first.

Yorba Meadows Wrap Up Great job to all of our instrumental music students! We were lucky with great weather, and were able to clear the field quickly due to all of the parent and student help. Thank you to all of our families and friends who were in attendance, supporting your students’ involvement in music.

MPR Raffle Wrap Up Great job and thank you to everyone who helped sell tickets, wear Mickey ears, or dance outside with posters in the morning. We made $2890 to go towards the MPR renovation!

Beginning & Intermediate groups field trip we will be going to Boomers! In Irvine on Tuesday, June 5th. Wear your black BYMS Music T-Shirt. Last chance for optional lunch order is TOMORROW (Monday, June 4th) SEE FLYER FOR INFO.

Jazz Camps Over the summer, Mr. Perez (Valencia HS) and Mr. Methe (Yorba Linda MS) host jazz camps. Watch for more info in the next few weeks. This is a great idea for students who are interested in beginning or continuing their jazz education during the summer months. SEE ATTACHMENTS

7th Graders – Info For Next Year
Placement auditions (for which band or orchestra) will occur during class immediately following the Yorba Meadows Concert (May 31). Students will be asked to play something from their current group’s performance at Yorba Meadows, scales and sight reading. All 7th grade students will complete this audition, even if they do not plan to continue with band/orchestra next year, this will count for their end of the year final.

8th graders – Final While 7th graders will be playing for a placement into next year’s groups, 8th graders will be asked to play something from the Yorba Meadows performance. This will be counted towards the overall final grade for 4th quarter and will be the last assignment for the school year.
