Festival Prep Wrap Up Concert Band, Percussion and Orchestra have been working VERY hard preparing to go to the SCSBOA adjudicated festival later this month. This past week, we were able to work with music educators who were able to provide learning opportunities for our students. Monday’s orchestra rehearsal at EHS with Mr. Fang not only helped students work on string-specific techniques, but allowed for future Aztecs to preview what orchestra at the high school level can be. On Wednesday, we were visited by Mr. Herrera who provided all classes with helpful tips and tricks for their festival performance, as well as providing some fine-tuning activities for our students. Our next opportunity for guests to hear our groups and provide feedback is our Pre-Festival Concert & Clinic on March 11th. Audience members will be able to hear our clinicians work with our students in real time, in a performance setting. Thank you to Mr. Fang and Mr. Herrera for working with our Matador Musicians!
See’s Candy Fundraiser – March 2-13 Get your spring candy orders in! All classes AND colorguard will receive order forms on Monday for our annual See’s Candy fundraiser! Please contact Cara Melendez or Anna Ordorica for questions.
Elementary Concert Help Wrap Up Thank you to ALL students who volunteered at the elementary concerts that were held at BYMS. The music teachers sent emails and reported that students were VERY helpful and that it was very neat for elementary students to see what current BYMS students are doing as a member of BYMS Instrumental Music. Way to go!
Jazz Band we are in full swing (ha ha) with preparing for festivals, learning to solo and learning music for several upcoming performances. We will be performing this Friday, March 6th at lunch in the quad. Parents are welcome to visit to watch our festival preview performance – we will start at the beginning of lunch.
Winterguard Season is here! We have an award-winning Winterguard team and I know they would love to see some BYMS student support. Here are some upcoming dates where you can come support our team!
